BYR is one of the most accepting, dedicated communities I have ever had the privilege of being a part of
I took my first Bikram yoga class in November 2008 with Pavida. I can’t exactly say it was love at first class, but I knew from the very first class that it was something special. At first, I came sporadically: a few classes a month, perhaps. My practice changed dramatically when, in Jan 2010, I dedicated myself to a regular practice: 4-6 times a week. It wasn’t easy; I had two full time jobs and had to schedule my yoga in my calendar like a meeting so I could attend. I also dramatically changed how I ate: no more fast food, no more over-indulgence of refined sugars or junk food, and I began taking E3 Live and using Raw Power and Pure Synergy in my morning smoothies. My goal was to lose weight: simple, right? Well, after months of regular practice and diet change, I finally started to see changes. The physical changes were encouraging, but what was more inspiring was how I felt: my friends and family noticed a calmer demeanor, a more peaceful presence, and it just felt easier to deal with day-to-day stresses.
Since that time, my relationship with BYR has evolved from one of commitment and self-improvement to one of community and familial love. Yes, I love the yoga and I love what it does for me, but what I love most is the people. BYR is one of the most accepting, dedicated communities I have ever had the privilege of being a part of. I have met some of my best friends here and some of the best people in Richmond are in that hot room EVERY DAY! I am honored to be a part of this community, and I love my BYR family!
