Trikanasana

Love, love, love the triangle pose. This is often considered the master posture of the class because it is “the only posture in the world” that uses 100% of your body; every muscle, joint, organ, and major gland. It revitalizes nerves, veins, and tissues. It helps cure lumbago and rheumatism of the lower spine by strengthening the last five vertebrae. It improves crooked spines. It also improves flexibility of the hip joints while toning the muscles of the thighs, hips, waistline, shoulders and arms. It’s a great posture for your knees as well!

Tips for doing a good triangle:
Nail the set up! Make sure your step is wide enough so that your bent leg makes a “perfect upside down L shape.” This is where most people go wrong. Get the hips down and stay down there!!!
Pay attention to the details! Two heels are in one line from the side. The foot of your bent leg is exactly parallel to the front mirror.
When you move your arms, do not let your hips come up at all.
Although it is tempting to look in the mirror, look up at the ceiling instead. The exact profile of your face will be visible in the mirror, but you won’t see it. Hello neck-spine!
